Job Description

Job Title: Laboratory Technician - Innovation and Science

Job Summary:

OSP Microcheck is seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician to perform an integral role within the LifeCheck microbial testing product line. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting microbial testing, report writing, and contributing to external scientific content.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct laboratory testing in support of OSP's LifeCheck service offering.
  • Perform various laboratory tasks, including general housekeeping, laboratory information management (LIMS), ATP testing, biocide efficacy testing, microbial DNA extraction, and qPCR.
  • Record and interpret data, prepare client-facing technical reports, and assist clients and internal sales with technical questions.
  • Maintain and aid in the development of standard operating procedures and lab practices.
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of OSP's intellectual property, technology, and service offerings.
  • Commit to health and safety protocols.
Requirements:
  • Diploma, undergraduate, or graduate degree in a life sciences-related field, with a strong preference for candidates with training in microbiology.
  • Experience in molecular microbiological test methods, including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, etc.
  • Proficiency in lab testing, including aseptic techniques.
  • Experience with oilfield chemistry and its applications.
  • Related experience in the oil and gas industry is an asset.
  • Strong competence in technical writing.
  • WHMIS, TDG, and H2S Alive training is an asset.
