Key Responsibilities- Safety Planning and Implementation:
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety plans and procedures specific to energy projects, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and Kiewit's safety standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and assess safety risks.
- Training and Education:
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and subcontractors, promoting a culture of safety awareness and accountability.
- Provide guidance on safety-related certifications and qualifications required for specific job roles.
- Incident Management and Investigation:
- Lead investigations into safety incidents, near misses, and accidents, analyzing root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure timely reporting of all safety incidents in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay informed about changes in safety regulations and standards applicable to energy construction, coordinating with regulatory authorities during inspections and audits.
- Safety Performance Monitoring:
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure safety performance on projects, conducting regular assessments and audits to evaluate adherence to safety standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Provide timely and accurate safety reports to project management and senior leadership.
- Education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field, with years of experience considered in lieu.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety management, ideally with a focus on energy construction projects, demonstrating ability to manage all aspects of a safety program on projects of increasing complexity.
- Professional certification in safety management (e.g. NCSO) preferred.
- CPR/First Aid, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and OSHA/MSHA instructor certifications are preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety and other relevant safety standards.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
- Strong work ethic, with willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.
- Willingness to travel and relocate to project sites as needed.
