Description
Amazon, the #2 most admired company in the US and #1 in Customer Service, is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Data Engineer to join its Analytics & Data Management team in Amazon Advertising.

As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and building scalable data architecture for ingesting large amounts of structured and unstructured datasets. You will work closely with business and tech-savvy professionals to build views that can be easily consumed by customers and partner with stakeholders to drive data-based business decisions.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Develop and improve the current data architecture using AWS Redshift, AWS S3, AWS Aurora (Postgres) and Hadoop/EMR
* Improve upon the data ingestion models, ETL jobs, and alarming to maintain data integrity and data availability
* Stay up-to-date with advances in data persistence and big data technologies and run pilots to design the data architecture to scale with the increased datasets of advertiser experience
* Partner with stakeholders to build and verify hypothesis to improve business performance
* Manage and support business critical reports and reporting tools to monitor KPIs

**Requirements:**

* 3+ years of data engineering experience
* Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
* Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets
* Experience with SQL
* Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS

**Preferred Qualifications:**

* Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
* Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)
* Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
