The Pulmonary Diagnostics unit at Alberta Health Services is dedicated to delivering a comprehensive range of pulmonary diagnostic services. Our Level IV Pulmonary Function Testing Facility holds full accreditation and is distinguished as the sole site in Alberta offering an outpatient Tracheostomy Clinic. Additionally, we operate a Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic that conducts right heart catheterization procedures. Our respirologist division specializes in various areas, including Pre & Post Lung Transplant, Neuromuscular disorders, Tuberculosis, Non-Tuberculous Mycobacterial infections, Pulmonary Hypertension, and Urgent Assessment Clinics. Our teams collaborate effectively with Outpatient Respiratory Clinics and Inpatient Respiratory Services, striving to provide exceptional service to our patients while achieving outstanding results through teamwork and accountability.
As the Clinical Practice Lead, you will play a pivotal role in the coordination and implementation of Respiratory Services. Your responsibilities will encompass providing leadership, mentorship, and ensuring quality and safety assurance. You will also offer technical support for equipment related to the hospital-based practice of Respiratory Therapy, with the aim of enhancing patient care. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting staff competency evaluations and performance development.
- Evaluating and troubleshooting equipment.
- Assisting with daily departmental operations.
- Providing direct patient care as needed.
- Serving as a clinical resource for staff, physicians, patients, and Respiratory Therapy students.
This position entails zonal responsibilities, including collaboration with other sites on committees, project work, and the development of policies and procedures. In executing these responsibilities, you will be expected to balance foundational team goals, focusing on professional development, patient-centered care, and fostering a healthy, respectful, safe, and supportive work environment.
Description:
As a Lead Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for mentoring team members, promoting standards of practice, addressing clinical inquiries, and coordinating ongoing skill development and student training. You will work closely with managers and supervisors to facilitate access to internal and external continuing education and professional development programs, including certifications and upgrades.
Required Qualifications:Active or eligible for registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).
Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:Experience in Pulmonary Diagnostics, Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET), Bronchoscopy procedures, and Tracheostomy management. Leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare environment. Experience in protocol development and implementation. Community care experience. A Bachelor's degree or a leadership certificate/diploma. Familiarity with Connect Care training. Experience with Ascent software. Project/change management experience and/or certifications. CRE/CRA certification. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Participation in professional development courses within the last three years.
