Executive Sous Chef

Join our team as an Executive Sous Chef and take on a leadership role in our kitchen. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring that our high standards of quality and service are consistently met.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations and staff
  • Supervise cooks and other kitchen employees to ensure efficient and safe food preparation
  • Conduct regular inventory of food supplies and assess projected needs
  • Maintain high standards of sanitation and cleanliness in the kitchen
  • Implement controls to minimize food and supply waste and theft
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance staff knowledge of safety, sanitation, and accident prevention principles
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef on food production aspects of special events
  • Cook and supervise the cooking of complex dishes
  • Evaluate food products to ensure quality standards are consistently met
  • Maintain open and professional communication with kitchen staff and management
  • Attend staff meetings and contribute to the development of the kitchen team
  • Exceed guest expectations and provide exceptional customer service
  • Manage disciplinary actions and work with the Head Chef to resolve issues
  • Be flexible with work schedule and adapt to changing business needs
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Certificate of Completion or Journeyman papers from an approved Culinary Institute
  • 3-5 years of experience in a high-volume kitchen or similar role
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and inventory control
  • Strong organizational and coordinating skills
  • Ability to read, understand, and enforce safety procedures
  • Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques
  • Ability to plan work schedules and assign duties
  • Ability to develop and test recipes and techniques
  • Mentoring and training experience
  • Excellent cooking and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Competitive salary: $55,000.00/year
  • Eligibility for health and dental benefits after probationary period
  • Registered Retirement Pension plan
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to stand and move for up to 4 hours
  • Ability to lift 11kg (25lbs) regularly
  • Ability to push and pull equipment
  • Ability to kneel, bend, stoop, squat, and stretch
