Job Summary

**Location: On-site, National Gallery of Canada, 380, Sussex Drive, Ottawa

Under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Collections & Loans, and in close collaboration with the Director, Curatorial Initiatives, and the Director, Indigenous Ways and Decolonization (IW&D), the Acquisitions Manager is responsible for the management of the Art Acquisitions Review Procedure, serving as the central point of contact and support for all stakeholders. The incumbent will coordinate the cross-departmental assessment of resource requirements for each acquisition candidate for review by the monthly Acquisitions Committee, through to the Board as required.

This role provides critical support and transparency to Senior Management when setting strategic priorities and goals supported by the Acquisitions budget, by maintaining expert control and oversight of a centralized tracking system that supports the multi-year operational and budgetary planning: tracking acquisitions from initial conception, through the review process, decision-making at all levels, until the final legal transfer of ownership to the NGC.

Requirements


• Bachelor's degree or diploma in museology or art history, or equivalent combination of education and experience;

• 1-2 years of project management experience, including researching and preparing detailed budgets, monitoring and tracking of expenditures in budget spreadsheets and through monthly variance reports, chairing meetings;

• 1-2 years of experience with an automated collections management system;

• 1-2 years of knowledge of museum data content structures and standards:

• 1-2 years of experience working at an intermediate level in Windows applications, especially and primarily Excel, Word, and Outlook, including task manager and shared calendars functions.
