A dynamic leader sought to spearhead the development of a high-performing culture at a luxury resort in the heart of the Canadian Rockies.

About the Role

As the Director of People & Culture, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of strategies that drive business results and foster a culture of excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning and Alignment:
    • Develop and implement People & Culture strategies aligned with the company's overall business goals.
    • Conduct thorough assessments of needs and deploy strategies and tactics to support the Resort's long-term success.
    • Emphasize talent acquisition, retention, development, and succession planning to support the Resort's growth.
  • Leadership and Employee Relations:
    • Lead the development and implementation of P&C initiatives across the Resort.
    • Provide guidance and support to leaders at all levels to foster a culture of trust, honesty, respect, and gratitude.
    • Actively engage with Resort General Manager and other leaders to handle employee issues, conflicts, and disciplinary actions.
  • Recruitment and Selection:
    • Oversee the recruitment and selection strategy for the Resort.
    • Manage the onboarding process to ensure a positive first impression and successful integration of new employees into the Resort's culture.
  • Compensation, Benefits, and Compliance:
    • Collaborate with senior operational and human resource leaders to design and implement total compensation packages.
    • Ensure that compensation structures, salary reviews, and benefits programs are competitive and in line with market trends.
    • Ensure Resort people practices are compliant with legal requirements and organizational values.
  • Training and Development:
    • Identify training gaps and collaborate with Corporate P&C to develop and deliver resort-wide training programs.
    • Work with Resort leadership to integrate training and development as a central component of the Resort's strategy.
  • Health, Safety, and Wellness:
    • Lead the implementation of health, safety, and wellness policies and procedures within the Resort.
    • Manage the employee residence experience, focusing on the health, safety, and comfort of employees residing in Resort-provided accommodations.
  • Internal Communication and Collaboration:
    • Work with the Resort leadership team to build effective internal communication channels.
    • Connect meaningfully with employees, ensuring promises are kept and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Metrics and Analytics:
    • Utilize data to assess P&C performance against agreed KPIs.
    • Monitor labour budgets and residence allocations of all departments within the Resort.
  • Visibility and Accessibility:
    • Maintain a visible and accessible presence throughout the Resort.
    • Execute assigned deliverables with minimal follow-up required.
  • Personal and Professional Conduct:
    • Demonstrate behaviours and communication that support all five of the organization's core values.
Requirements
  • 10 years of Human Resource experience with time spent in premium or luxury hotels environments.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills, ability to work cross-functionally and across wider organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
