Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern have merged to form CPKC, a North American railway with a 20,000-mile network. The company is seeking a First-Class Constable to join its police service, responsible for delivering police services across the network.

Job Title: First-Class Constable

About the Role:

  • Deliver police services to the CPKC network, including emergency response, special events policing, and risk reduction operations.
  • Investigate and enforce criminal acts, and prevent and detect crime.
  • Enforce Federal, Provincial, and municipal laws, statutes, and by-laws.
  • Conduct criminal and collision investigations, and respond to emergency incidents and calls for service.
  • Protect railway assets, operations, and personnel.
  • Work with other Law Enforcement Agencies during investigations and joint enforcement operations.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Plan, manage, and prioritize workload, and conduct general and directed patrols.
  • Be prepared to travel on assignments, respond to incidents, and attend training within the Province of Quebec.
  • Be prepared for 'On-Call' and 'Callout' duties, with compensation.
  • Possess strong communication skills, and provide assistance to victims of crime.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and prosecution files, and deliver court testimony.
  • Manage and escort prisoners.
  • Work shiftwork, weekends, and statutory holidays.

Requirements:

  • Be a Canadian citizen.
  • Have a High School diploma or GED.
  • Post-Secondary education would be an asset.
  • Be fully bilingual in French and English.
  • Have completed and passed full basic police recruit training with a recognized police service in Canada.
  • Be a First-class police constable, in good standing with a recognized Canadian federal, provincial, municipal, or First Nations police service.
  • Have knowledge of the Canadian Criminal Justice System, and enforcement under Provincial Statutes.
  • Have community involvement, and basic computer skills.
  • Be able to successfully complete and pass a fitness test (PARE, POPAT, or PREP).
  • Have a valid driver's license for the province in which you are employed.
  • Be qualified in First Aid, CPR, and AED.
  • Meet CPKC Police Firearms and Use of Force Standards.
  • Not have any McNeil decisions on your personnel file.
  • Be able to complete and pass a psychological evaluation.
  • Be able to complete and pass a polygraph exam.

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
