Support Housing Workers Needed for Transitional Housing Initiative

We are seeking Support Workers to join our team at a transitional housing site, providing support and assistance to clients experiencing homelessness.

The Support Worker is responsible for assisting clients with daily needs, providing information and referrals, and supporting residents in achieving their goals.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse populations, a strong understanding of substance use and mental health, and excellent communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and assistance to clients with daily needs
  • Conduct orientation with residents and review rules and expectations
  • Provide information on available programming, services, and resources
  • Assist clients in setting and working towards individual goals and safety planning
  • Maintain client confidentiality and privacy
  • Maintain accurate client records
  • Work with individuals experiencing substance use, providing non-judgmental support
  • Address and respond to situations as they arise
  • Provide crisis intervention support as needed

Qualifications:

  • Education in the human services field or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Understanding of substance use and mental health
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
  • Physical ability to move around the site with some lifting
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite

The hourly rate for this position is $21.50 per hour plus shift differential and vacation pay.
