Job Title: Developmental Service Worker

Momentum Developmental Support Corporation is seeking a skilled and compassionate Developmental Service Worker to join our team. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic individual to work in a group home setting, providing support and assistance to clients with developmental disabilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing life skills workshops, housekeeping activities, food preparation, and providing suicide and crisis intervention. You will also be required to supervise activities of clients living in group homes and half-way houses, assist clients/guests with special needs, and accompany clients to appointments and social outings.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement life skills workshops to promote independence and self-advocacy
  • Perform housekeeping activities to maintain a clean and safe living environment
  • Prepare meals and snacks for clients, taking into account dietary restrictions and preferences
  • Provide suicide and crisis intervention, using de-escalation techniques and crisis management strategies
  • Supervise activities of clients living in group homes and half-way houses, ensuring their safety and well-being
  • Assist clients/guests with special needs, providing support and accommodations as needed
  • Accompany clients to appointments and social outings, providing transportation and support as required
  • Evaluate work environments, programs, and procedures to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to prevent disease or injury
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to health and safety protocols
Requirements:
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, an asset
  • First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate
  • Valid driver's licence and own vehicle
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure, and with physically demanding tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, colleagues, and management
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to work varied shifts and respond to changing situations
