Your Role

In the role of Producer based in Toronto, you will accompany a reporter on daily coverage of regional news for the Réseau de l'information (ICI RDI). Bringing sound editorial judgment, you will contribute ideas for stories. You will gather B-roll and shoot the reporter's stand-ups yourself. You will also apply your knowledge of editing applications, including MediaCentral, to prepare supporting clips for stand-ups. You must work with the newsroom to optimize coverage in the field. You may be required to write copy for TV, radio or digital platforms. You must be thoroughly familiar with CBC/RadioCanada's Journalistic Standards and Practices.

As Producer, you must provide leadership in developing original content. Your solid planning and organization skills are essential to the team's success. You must also be creative and flexible to stay on top of developing stories.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:
  • University degree or equivalent
  • Five (5) years' experience, including three (3) in broadcasting or a related field, directly relevant to the assignment
  • Strong team leadership skills with the ability to inspire others
  • Technical skills to shoot footage
  • Technical skills to edit footage (Avid MediaCentral)
  • Superior writing, editorial and production skills; interest in cross-platform media production
  • Ability to choose relevant, audience-focused stories, which reflect issues being discussed by the public
  • Ability to quickly react and respond to breaking stories
  • Knowledge of events and issues of interest in the GTA area, Ontario province and Southern Ontario
  • Demonstrated skills in the area of conflict resolution, mentoring, talent recognition and development
  • An innovator and risk taker
  • A commitment to reflecting the community and diversity
