**Job Description**

As a Counter Salesperson, you will:

* Provide sales support to walk-in customers, answering questions and processing orders
* Maintain a clean and organized counter area, including merchandising displays
* Research products and provide recommendations to customers
* Drive sales growth through counter merchandising and product promotion
* Enter, pick, and pack sales orders
* Inform the buyer when stock levels are low
* Follow up on backorders with vendors and provide customers with accurate delivery dates
* Process returns and warranty claims
* Navigate and find solutions for customer concerns and complaints

**Qualifications**

* Grade 12 diploma or equivalent; college and/or university degree an asset
* Minimum 2 years of experience in customer service or counter sales
* Outstanding customer service and verbal communication skills
* Excellent relationship building skills with customers, vendors, and teammates
* Ability to learn and operate software systems
* Experience working in a fast-paced environment
* Intermediate math skills with a strong attention to detail
* Ability to learn how to operate material handling equipment
* Strong work ethic and high standard of integrity
* Ability to work well independently and in a team setting

**Preferred Skills**

* Previous experience with or knowledge of plumbing and building products
* Ability to use the Internet as a resource to problem solve and find alternative solutions
* Experience using Trend, Eclipse, Word, Excel, and Outlook
