Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Social Worker provides a range of services to a primarily child and youth mental health and addiction population. The incumbent provides supervision to students in formal clinical practicums. This position involves providing outreach services to a population that often experiences barriers to typical mental health services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide screening, triage, assessment, treatment, and case coordination services to children and youth with mental health and addiction problems.
- Supervise students in formal clinical practicums.
- Provide outreach services to a population that often experiences barriers to typical mental health services.
- Recognized Bachelor Degree in Social Work is required.
- Must have current practicing registration with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW).
- Requires a minimum of one year (postgraduate) recent recognized experience in a community mental health setting working with children, youth, and families presenting with acute and chronic mental health problems.
- Knowledge of normal child and adolescent development and psychopathology.
- Ability to identify, implement, and evaluate areas of client difficulty across a wide range of clinical presentation and formulate evidence-based intervention.
- Knowledge of the diversity of cultures, values, and traditions and their impact on accessing mental health services.
- Ability to work in partnership within the community and possess a broad knowledge of community resources, including treatment programs and support agencies.
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet client need and operational needs.
- Requires a valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for use as needed.
