**Job Summary:** We are seeking a committed and driven Associate Physician to support the provision of continuous care in a team-based environment at Surrey Memorial Hospital.
Fraser Health is responsible for delivering hospital and community-based health services to nearly 2 million people in 20 diverse communities. As an Associate Physician, you will work collaboratively with the Most Responsible Provider, Residents, nursing, and allied care providers to care for Acute Care Surgery patients.
**Responsibilities:**
• Participate in patient rounds under the supervision of the attending physician
• Assess the day-to-day care of patients, including writing medical orders and responding to changing patient conditions
• Develop treatment plans in response to changing patient conditions and follow through on investigations
• Perform medical surgical consultations for in-patients and patients referred to the emergency room
• Communicate with patients, family members, and other consulting services concerning care plans
• Perform procedures within the scope of demonstrated competence, including removing drains, placing and removing NG tubes, wound debridement, and drainage of superficial abscesses
• Participate in professional development activities, including attending clinical rounds, morbidity and mortality rounds, and other educational and research sessions
• Participate in Quality Improvement projects relating to patient care
**Qualifications:**
• Medical degree from a school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools
• Minimum of two (2) years of accredited postgraduate training as a medical or surgical specialist
• Successful completion of Part 1 of the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) or Steps 1 through 3 of the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLEs)
• Eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) in the Associate Physician class
• Valid Canadian Citizenship or be a permanent resident or be legally able to live and work in British Columbia
