Parks Operations Supervisor Job Summary

The City of Toronto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Parks Operations Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our Parks and Forestry Division, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the day-to-day operations of our parks and open spaces.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of park maintenance staff, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop and implement plans to improve park maintenance and operations, including horticulture, turf management, and winter maintenance.
  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance, providing coaching and guidance to ensure high standards of work quality and productivity.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination of park-related activities.
  • Develop and manage budgets for park maintenance and operations, ensuring that expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved limits.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field, such as horticulture, parks management, or a related field.
  • Considerable experience in park maintenance and operations, including supervisory experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on customer service and quality.
  • Knowledge of parks and recreation policies, procedures, and regulations.
