We have an exciting opportunity in our Community and Stakeholder Relations Department. We are currently hiring a Community Liaison Officer.

What You Will Do

As the Community Liaison Officer your will be the primary point of contact for the local community during the planning and construction of Toronto Transit Commission projects. Act as the lead in facilitating community relations during the design/pre-construction and construction phases, working collaboratively as a bridge between stakeholders and TTC construction teams.

You will develop outreach and communication plans to inform the public of construction activities and their impacts and mitigation measures, including through facilitating public information events, conducting site visits, preparing presentations, newsletters, brochures, notices, social media and web content, etc. and ensuring the timely distribution of materials.

This will also include proactively identifying and resolving potential construction related problems or issues of concern, that may arise within the community as a result of both pending and on-site construction activities. You will Liaise with property owners/managers, residents, tenants, site staff, contractors and local agencies to manage on-site construction issues relating to property access, pedestrian safety, restoration, parking, signage, noise, dust/dirt, etc. Preparing supporting documentation, and research/obtain additional information to ensure all public concerns and issues are addressed accurately and promptly with construction personnel as required

As the Community Liaison Officer, you will manage, track and report on all public correspondence and document any initial claims of noise complaints, property damage or personal injury for investigation and response

What Qualifications Do you Bring?
  • Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent
  • 3-4 years of directly related work experience
  • Familiarity with the principles, methods, practices and terminology associated with construction activities
  • Proficiency in using MS Word, Excel, databases and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with graphics (Adobe Suite) and website applications, including web content management systems are considered assets
  • Sound knowledge of communications, stakeholder and community relations principles, methods and practices
  • Demonstrated strong communications and customer service skills including event organization and logistics, meeting presentations, production of printed materials and graphics
  • Sound judgement and excellent problem-solving and prioritizing skills to anticipate and assess situations/incidents and determine best solution or course of action
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills are essential
