Senior Business Analyst, OPL

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Business Analyst to join our growing team. The successful candidate will work closely with Finance User teams across Canada to clarify business needs and drive project success. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in requirements gathering sessions with business and technical experts to clarify business needs and identify solutions.
  • Collaborate with senior business analysts to solve complex business problems and improve data flow.
  • Support cross-functional teams to document end-to-end solutioning that meets business requirements.
  • Prepare design documents for executives and IT experts to communicate data flow and transformation.
  • Track progress, list work to be done, and meet timelines to ensure project success.
  • Support the validation team in preparing test data and performing user acceptance testing.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a business analyst role for finance teams and/or financial systems.
  • Studies or minor in finance or accounting is considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills to gather clear and complete requirements and present to colleagues.
  • Basic knowledge of financial, IT, database systems, and technologies (Data Warehouses, SQL, SAS, ERP systems like Oracle, SAP, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Office 365, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and advanced Excel skills.
  • Understanding of ETL principles, data elements, data structures, and data modeling is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Jira, Confluence, an ETL tool, and a RDBMS (e.g. Toad, MS SQL server) is considered an asset.
  • CPA designation and IFRS17 experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of P&C insurance industry is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new situations.
  • Good analytical skills, insight, and discipline.
  • Team player, independent, and efficient.
