About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Rehabilitation Service Specialist to join our team at WCG International Consultants Ltd. As a key member of our rehabilitation services team, you will play a vital role in delivering support and care to veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine Rehabilitation Needs: Conduct thorough assessments to identify participants' capacity for improvement and clarify rehabilitation needs, coordinating as required.
  • Develop Rehabilitation Plans: Create comprehensive plans in consultation with participants, their families/caregivers, rehabilitation service professionals, and Veterans Affairs Canada case managers.
  • Act as Service Integrator: Collaborate with medical, psycho-social, and vocational rehabilitation service professionals to deliver services to participants.
  • Empower Participants: Explore options of community-based interventions and resources to achieve desired outcomes, empowering participants to problem-solve and take control of their rehabilitation journey.
  • Identify Barriers and Risk Factors: Proactively identify and develop strategies to address barriers or risk factors contributing to suboptimal outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, counseling, rehabilitation, social sciences, health services, human services) and one of the following: five years of experience in case management, a health professional designation (e.g., registered social worker, kinesiologist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, registered nurse), or a certified vocational rehabilitation professional (CVRP or CVRP-F).
  • Additional Requirements: A minimum of one year of experience in the direct provision of medical, psycho-social, or vocational rehabilitation services, including conducting assessments and making recommendations to support a comprehensive plan. Experience working with individuals living with mental or physical health problems creating barriers in life.
  • Employment Conditions: Employment is conditional on obtaining federal security clearance – Reliability Status.
  • Travel Requirements: A reliable vehicle and the ability to travel throughout the region to meet with participants and service providers as needed.
Preferred Criteria
  • Bilingualism: Bilingual (French/English) skills are an asset.
  • Experience with Employers and Community Resources: Experience working with employers, community resources, and training institutions is preferred.
  • Preference for Former CAF Members: Preference is given to qualified former Canadian Armed Forces members.
