The MacEwan University Health Centre is a state-of-the-art primary care clinic located in downtown Edmonton, focused on the Patient-Centered Medical Home model. We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team.

Job Summary

The RN will provide high-quality patient care and support to a designated panel of patients, with a focus on the under-served LGBTQ community. The successful candidate will be a team leader and will work closely with physicians, residents, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and coordinated care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Triage patients and provide telephone advice and support
  • Create and update clinical policies and procedures
  • Coordinate daily huddles and contribute to shared goal setting
  • Manage patient panels and provide education on chronic disease conditions
  • Perform daily procedures and manage test results and outstanding issues
  • Assist with form completion and manage labs and screenings
  • Manage prescription renewals and coordinate allied health resources
  • Provide prenatal checks, obstetrical visits, and well-baby checks
  • Perform cognitive screening, HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), and STI screening
  • Provide emergency response and procedure assistance
  • Responsible for patient education and care coordination
  • Teach and mentor CHA's, LPN's, and residents
  • Work with the clinic manager to develop and operate quality control and CQI programs
Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with a relevant regulatory college
  • Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector check
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP)
  • Up-to-date vaccinations
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in primary care or family practice
  • Clinical knowledge of and experience working with the LGBTQ community
  • Experience leading and collaborating in teams
  • Knowledge of Primary Care Medical Home Model
  • Experience with leading a team, teaching, and mentoring
  • EMR experience and proficiency in MS Office Suites
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
