Your Opportunity:
Unit 3-4 at Alberta Hospital is a specialized 19-bed Subacute Adult Forensic unit dedicated to delivering mental health evaluation, treatment, and support to individuals facing significant mental health and addiction challenges, who have a legal disposition. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the Registered Psychiatric Nurse in this setting is tasked with the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care in alignment with clinical protocols and nursing care standards. Role Overview:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will deliver a comprehensive range of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, while ensuring their safety and well-being. In this capacity, you will employ nursing processes through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making, as well as provide education, counseling, and advocacy for patients and their families. You will assume a leadership role in promoting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. Your commitment will be to provide safe, high-quality, patient-centered care that reflects the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
- If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification.
Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of continuous experience in Forensic or Correctional settings is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the Alberta Review Board Processes is advantageous.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification is preferred.
- Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate skills in engagement, de-escalation, and maintaining healthy boundaries while providing exceptional care in a collaborative team environment.
