We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Student Support Counsellor to join our team at the Amethyst Demonstration School in London. As a Student Support Counsellor, you will play a vital role in supporting students with severe learning disabilities in a lodging program setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and instruction in social and life skills for students with severe learning disabilities.
  • Plan, organize, and implement customized individual and group programs to meet the personal, emotional, and developmental needs of students.
  • Supervise, guide, and instruct students in the lodging program, acting as an appropriate role model and modeling appropriate interpersonal relationships.
  • Provide sound physical care and maintain a safe and secure environment for students in the lodging program.
  • Conduct structured study time for all students and assist students during study time using a variety of learning tools.
  • Provide opportunities for students to participate in extra-curricular activities that allow for the transfer and practice of acquired skills.
  • Organize, schedule recreational, leisure, and educational programs and activities that meet the varied interests and physical needs of students.
  • Maintain meaningful and appropriate communication with students, parents, and other professionals.
Requirements:
  • College certification from a recognized educational facility and/or equivalent training, education, and working experience in a child-related field.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and Crisis Prevention Intervention Training and/or Behaviour Management Training or equivalent.
