ROLE OVERVIEW


Reporting to the Manager, Health, Safety, Radiation and Environment on the Rook I Site, the Emergency Response (ER) Lead will play a fundamental role in leading the Emergency Preparedness and Response Program. The ER Lead is a collaborative role that requires strong communication, relationship building and influencing skills.

This role is pivotal in ensuring the safety of personnel on the Rook I Site and that the site is in a continuous state of readiness able to effectively respond and mitigate potential losses from unplanned crisis and emergency events. It is a unique opportunity to join a team that is focused on the advancement of the Rook I Project (Project) – a Tier-1 uranium project – as it transitions to the next stage of development.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to)


  • Coordinate planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the Emergency Preparedness and Response Program.
  • Manage inspections and preventative maintenance requirements for all emergency response equipment to ensure compliance requirements.
  • Schedule and coordinate emergency response training sessions including, but not limited to, wildland fire fighting, structural fire fighting, Hazmat, and mine rescue to ensure compliance with the provincial and federal regulators.
  • Maintain training records for all emergency response and mine rescue personnel ensuring certifications and minimum training requirements are met.
  • Schedule and lead emergency response and mine rescue drills ensuring both Company and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring of site-specific risks identifying changes and modify or develop emergency response action plans accordingly.
  • Provide subject matter expert support and input as required to ensure Project and site processes are fit-for-purpose and comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the incident management process, participate in incident investigations and corrective action activities as assigned.
  • Participate in and contribute to risk assessments as related to conventional health and safety hazards and controls.
  • Participate in the Integrated Management System audit activities as required.
  • Drive continual improvement efforts enhancing health and safety, emergency preparedness and response, fire protection and contractor management programs.
  • Promote a strong safety culture encouraging active participation with all employees and contractors.
  • Perform other duties supporting the Health, Safety, Radiation and Environment Department as required.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • Minimum 7 years experience in heavy industry or mining, with uranium mining and milling experience considered an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in emergency response management in an industrial capacity with preference given to industrial firefighting, wildland fire fighting, Hazmat, confined space rescue and high angle rescue.
  • NFPA 1001 level I-II certification considered an asset.
  • Saskatchewan underground mine rescue certification with preference given to mine rescue instructor certification.
  • Conversant with provincial and federal fire protection requirements relating to industrial operations with preference given for knowledge on associated standards for nuclear facilities.
  • ICS 100, with 200 and 300 considered an asset.
  • Detailed knowledge of key concepts, theories, and practices related to effective control of health and safety related risks.
  • Have an in-depth working knowledge of Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and Saskatchewan Mining Regulations.
  • Proficiency in incident investigation, and emergency response planning and execution.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong digital literacy with Microsoft Office Suite, experience with database management, and the ability to learn new software.


LOCATION


This position will be based at the Rook I site located 150 km North of La Loche, Saskatchewan on a two-week on/two-week off rotation schedule.
