Reporting to the Senior Director, Business Development, this position acts as the first point of contact representing Alberta Municipalities’ diverse portfolio of services to existing and potential customers. The primary objectives of this position are to serve a region of Alberta, providing intimate knowledge of clients in the region and understanding their specific needs in relation to the services we offer.

Through in-person interactions, this role will be able to conduct value-driven business reviews focused on the objectives and priorities of their customers. The Regional Manager will utilize their skills and knowledge of the service offerings to strategically establish themselves as a trusted advisor for the customer.

Know-How

Practical/ Technical Knowledge

  • Post-secondary degree in Business or related field – equivalent work experience in sales and customer service also considered.
  • Progressive experience in sales and customer relations with a proven track record in consultative and customer relations management.
  • Current holder of the following industry licenses, or willingness to attain within the first 12 months of employment:
  • Life License Qualification Program (LLQP)
  • Level 1 General Life Insurance License or equivalent
  • Certified Employee Benefits designation (CEBS)
  • Knowledge of municipal and non-profit organizations is an asset.
  • Highly competent computer skills with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and CRM software (preferable Microsoft Dynamics 365).
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

  • Significant direct experience in customer interactions dealing with the delivery of business services.
  • Dynamic communicator with the ability to establish relationships with relevant client representatives.
  • Proven sensitivity in a public sector service delivery environment as well as an optimistic, yet realistic, focus on results, and the ability to explain complicated programs to members.
  • Enterprise leadership skills including strategic thinking, budgeting, business acumen, coaching for performance, relationship building and complex decision making.
  • Ability to remain calm and collected when dealing with stressful situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to coach, mentor, mediate and use tact and diplomacy to resolve sensitive matters.
  • Ability to promote services to clients in a compelling and persuasive manner.
  • High level of integrity, with a sense of urgency and results orientation.


Responsibilities

  • Act as the key relationship manager between Alberta Municipalities members and all of the services portfolios including:
  • Benefits Services
  • Insurance Services
  • Natural Gas, Electricity and Green Energy
  • Retirement Services
  • Investment Services
  • Travel 50% of the time within the assigned region to promote the service portfolios to existing members and prospective clients.
  • Work closely with the internal business service teams to ensure service levels are achieved and sales targets are met with respect to retaining existing clients and bringing in new business.
  • Works with the service development/innovation area to identify new service opportunities and grow the compliment of services offered to Alberta Municipalities members.
  • Strong focus on developing and nurturing strong business relationships with clients while helping ensure that service levels identified through the various strategic and business plans are achieved.
  • Understands, maintains, and services the existing account base.
  • Complete business reviews on a quarterly, semi-annual and annual basis.
  • Stay relevant with the various industries by completing ongoing education and licensing requirements.
  • Update the Alberta Municipalities CRM system with relevant information is available for strategic planning and annual sales plans and targets.
  • Represent Alberta Municipalities at various events, tradeshows and conferences throughout the year to develop customer relations, grow awareness of the service portfolios and contribute to annual revenue targets.
  • Respond to Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Requests for Qualification (RFQs), Requests for Information (RFIs) and is the lead on product inquiries as well as directing and assisting in generating sales opportunities and product proposals/quotes.
  • Provides support at key seminars, workshops or lecture presentations for Alberta Municipalities.
  • Deliver formal presentations to various customer groups including councils, senior administrators, stakeholders and Boards representing Alberta Municipalities.
  • Willingness to work variable hours to support various Alberta Municipalities events throughout the year.
