Our client is a well-established and a highly reputable Canadian Private Equity firm, with a successful track record investing in Canadian Private Equity and Venture Capital. This role is focused on fund investments in these sectors, while working very closely with the direct investment team. This is a newly created role in a group that is critical to the organization.

Accountabilities:


  • Provide efficient and accurate support to the overall Private Equity team through:
  • Financial Modelling: ownership of the analysis of financial information presented by prospects and portfolio funds and their holdings
  • Market Research & Screening: pro-actively identifying, researching and recommending prospects in consultation with the rest of the team; and providing accurate information and data to support recommendations
  • Investment Committee Presentations: lead and take ownership of investment submissions and related memorandums on behalf of the investment team in consultation with the Director
  • Due Diligence: provide support and assistance in all aspects of the due diligence process
  • Coordination with internal and external parties to ensure smooth transaction closings
  • Portfolio Management: monitor all assigned accounts; conduct portfolio analytics, cash forecasting and risk modeling: timely review of financial statements and promptly identify deteriorating situations with recommended solutions


Contribute to Private Equity team’s new business development and marketing efforts:


Education / Experience / Other Information


  • 7+ years of experience in private equity/venture capital fund investments and portfolio management
  • Undergraduate degree, CFA, CA/CPA, CBV or Masters’ degree in business/economics considered an asset
  • Completion of ILPA certification is strongly preferred.
  • Solid accounting skills and experience
  • Advanced Financial Modeling skills and experience
  • Advanced knowledge of institutional investment principles and practices
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office – Word, PP, Excel
  • Analytical mindset, strong valuation, due diligence and research skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high performing culture


Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.


Location: Ottawa, Montreal or Toronto, hybrid
