Manufacturing Lead

Our client is located at the Springbank Airport, just west of Calgary is a Transport Canada Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO), specializing in twin turbine aircraft with a special emphasis on the DeHavilland Twin Otter is a leading manufacturer specializing in high-quality aircraft parts. With a commitment to innovation and precision, we support the aerospace industry with top-notch components that meet stringent safety and performance standards.
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Lead to oversee our manufacturing operations. The Lead will direct a team of skilled workers, ensuring that aircraft parts are produced efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. The role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge, and a commitment to continuous improvement in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate the activities of the manufacturing team, including technicians, machine operators, and assemblers. Provide guidance, support, and training to team members.
- Production Management: Oversee daily manufacturing operations to ensure adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and safety regulations. Monitor workflow and adjust resources as needed to meet production goals.
- Quality Control: Adhere to and enforce quality control procedures to ensure all parts meet industry standards and specifications. Conduct regular inspections and address any quality issues promptly.
- Safety Compliance: Promote and enforce a culture of safety within the manufacturing facility. Ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Maintenance Oversight: Coordinate with manufacturing personnel to ensure that machinery and equipment are regularly serviced and repaired as needed. Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues to minimize downtime.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reduction. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production activities, including work orders, inventory levels, and maintenance logs. Prepare reports as required for management review.
- Communication: Act as a liaison between production staff and upper management. Communicate effectively to ensure that all team members are informed of changes, updates, and expectations.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma or certification in manufacturing, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role. Experience in the aerospace industry is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, machinery, and equipment used in aircraft parts production. Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Safety Knowledge: In-depth understanding of safety regulations and practices in a manufacturing setting. Experience with safety training and compliance.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Compensation:
- $40.00 to $45.00 per hour depending on experience
- 2 Weeks Holidays, 10 sick days plus 3 paid days at Christmas
