It is one of the largest providers of production chemicals and drilling fluid systems and is focused on being the leading provider of technically advanced chemical solutions throughout the life cycle of the oilfield.


CES Energy Solutions is looking for an individual to become a part of the HSE team who can support the SDS authoring management system as well as support other areas of the HSE program throughout its Canadian operations. The successful candidate will work with a team of HSE professionals throughout Western Canada to help CES Energy Solutions provide a safe and healthy work environment for its employees. The position will report to the HSE Manager, Regulatory Affairs & Manager, HSE Site Services - Canada.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Review and author SDS for chemicals manufactured by CES and its divisions.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the online SDS management system.
  • Regulatory product label management and compliance.
  • Visit, inspect and audit workplaces and staff.
  • Coordinate between facilities and HSE Corporate Services Team.
  • Provide safety support for Canadian employees.
  • Perform other duties as instructed by Regulatory and HSE management.


Necessary qualifications:

  • 3-5 years relevant HSE or related work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or certificate in a science discipline, background in chemistry is ideal.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license with acceptable driving record.


Required skillset:

  • Experience with SDS authoring is preferred.
  • Knowledge in product safety and chemical hazard communication.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical procedures, industry standards and regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) that allow effective communication at all levels of the company; both within the field and office.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • High personal ethics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in oil and gas is preferred.


Work Conditions:

  • This position is based in the corporate office in Calgary.
  • Regular travel (up to 25%) should be expected with periods of more intense travel.
  • Fieldwork will require outdoor work in a variety of conditions.
  • Company truck will be provided.
