Company Description
We are a top-growing construction/fabrication company in Cornwall, Ontario who services the commercial and industrial sector. Projects include custom metal fabrication, heavy plate, structural & misc—steel, pressure vessels, tanks, welding, metal services, and mechanical contracting (plumbing, HVAC, sheet metal).
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Purchasing Officer at Olsonfab Metal Fabrication in Cornwall, ON. The Purchasing Officer will be responsible for managing purchasing processes, creating purchase orders and requisitions, negotiating contracts, and utilizing analytical skills to support procurement activities for Olsonfab and its two sister companies. You will be working directly with Project Estimators and Project Managers to assure the right quantities, quality, and cost can be attained.
Responsibilities:
- Source selection of all materials and supplies, or subcontractors
- Review and negotiate offers from suppliers
- Enter/process all purchase orders and changes into the system
- Act as primary contact for walk-in customer steel orders/sales
- Establish delivery schedules
- Monitor progress of delivery schedules
- Assist with supplier issues (delivery, capacity, obsolete material, quality, etc.)
- Work with project managers and estimators to coordinate availability and budget of supplies/materials
- Provide quotations from suppliers to estimators to confirm cost and budgeting
- Analyze, evaluate, and recommend alternate purchasing strategies that best fulfills requirements.
- Continuously build strong working relationships with suppliers
Qualifications
- Ideally 3-5+ years of experience in a commercial/industrial purchasing position
- Experience working in the field of construction or metal fabrication
- Contract Negotiation skills
- Analytical Skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
