We are seeking an experienced Supply Planning Manager to oversee and optimize the end-to-end supply planning process, including Finished Goods Planning and Packaging Planning. This role will drive the development and execution of production, inventory, and material planning strategies to ensure supply continuity, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
The Supply Planning Manager will lead a team of two planners—a Finished Goods Planner and a Packaging Planner—while working cross-functionally with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and internal teams to meet demand across global markets. Additionally, this role will play a key part in new product development (NPD) by ensuring seamless supply chain integration and readiness for product launches.
This role is also responsible for managing the supply of ancillary (marketing) items, ensuring availability to support promotional activities and campaigns.
This is a leadership role that requires strategic thinking, analytical expertise, and hands-on execution to enhance supply chain performance and inventory management.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of two planners (Finished Goods Planner and Packaging Planner).
- Set clear goals, provide guidance, and support professional growth within the team.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment focused on efficiency and continuous improvement.
Production & Inventory Planning
- Develop and maintain a rolling 12-month Master Production Plan for finished goods and packaging materials.
- Ensure alignment between sales forecasts, manufacturing capabilities, and supply chain requirements.
- Identify risks and proactively develop contingency or mitigation plans to avoid supply disruptions.
- Expedite and adjust production schedules based on demand fluctuations and operational constraints.
New Product Development (NPD) Support
- Actively participate in new product development (NPD) initiatives, ensuring supply chain readiness for product launches.
- Collaborate with product development, marketing, and manufacturing teams to align production and material planning with NPD timelines.
- Identify potential supply chain risks associated with new products and implement proactive solutions.
Finished Goods Planning & Production Coordination
- Oversee Finished Goods Planning, ensuring optimal inventory levels to support business needs.
- Work closely with contract manufacturers to align production output with business needs.
- Lead value-added activities (kitting, co-packing, assembly transactions) to support finished goods operations.
Packaging & Materials Planning
- Develop Material Requirement Planning (MRP) for packaging materials to support production schedules.
- Issue purchase orders for packaging components, ensuring timely procurement from approved suppliers.
- Manage supplier relationships, resolving shortages, missed deliveries, and quality issues.
- Support supplier-driven packaging development initiatives to enhance sustainability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Process Improvement & Systems Implementation
- Participate in the implementation of new supply chain planning and execution systems.
- Establish best practices in inventory management, purchasing, and production scheduling.
- Continuously identify and execute process improvements to enhance supply chain efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in supply planning, inventory management, or production planning within consumer goods industries.
- Leadership experience with direct reports, preferably in a planning or supply chain function.
- Strong knowledge of finished goods planning, materials planning, and packaging procurement.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred).
- Proven ability to analyze data, develop forecasts, and manage supply chain constraints.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and risk management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—ability to effectively collaborate across departments and with external partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions for supply planning and data analysis).
- Postsecondary degree/diploma in Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field.
- A strategic thinker and problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- A motivational leader who can mentor and develop a high-performing supply planning team.
- An effective communicator who can clearly convey supply chain strategies, issues, and solutions.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and highly adaptable to changing business needs.
- Passionate about driving efficiency, process improvement, and supply chain excellence.
- Able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a proactive and hands-on approach.
