We are currently seeking and have an immediate opening for a qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of Bilingual Human Resource Business Partner – Eastern Canada. This role can be fully remote, hybrid or based in office. Home location is flexible for any metropolitan area applied operates in:

  • Greater Toronto Area
  • Laval, QC - Greater Montreal Area
  • Brossard, QC - Greater Montreal Area

Position Summary:


Reporting to the Director – HR & EHS, this is a key role on the Human Resources team supporting AIT Canada’s operations in over 30 locations across Eastern Canada (non-unionized, approximately 350 associates). This individual will contribute to the achievement of business objectives and goals by providing human resources expertise for a full range of HR services, including employee relations, compensation, disability management, performance management, succession planning and overall talent management to managers and employees across operations and functions in Eastern Canada.

The HRBP acts as a partner to the business by embedding human resources programs into day-to-day work and providing professional HR guidance and support to internal client groups with the objective of adding value to the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with managers to develop human resources solutions by collecting, analyzing and sharing information and data and recommending courses of action.
  • Pro-actively consult with, advise and support leaders and employees on all human resources related issues.
  • Support the development of manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying issues; providing feedback and recommendations for resolutions; supporting the recommended course of action to resolve issues/improve performance.
  • Write contracts for promotions, transfers, and new hires in collaboration with recruitment, department management, and leadership
  • Conduct workplace investigations, assist with terminations, provide coaching and support for performance management, facilitate and support the roll out of training initiatives, and provide counsel on labor relations issues.
  • Advise employees and department management with regards to leave requests, retirement, disability management, etc.
  • Provide input and support on workforce and succession planning as well as plans business unit restructuring, interpret and administer policies, procedures, and relevant legislation and coach management on HR items
  • Be a catalyst for change and efficiency on HR processes, programs, tools and procedures
  • Administer various human resources plans and procedures for all company associates; assist in the development and implementation of human resources policies and procedures
  • Support employees and managers on issues, questions and execution of HR life cycle changes
  • Participate in and lead specific projects as determined in the HR planning process and participate in functional and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Provide timely and professional customer service to all associate requests
  • Comply with Federal and State laws/regulations (associate issues, payroll, workers’ compensation, etc.)
  • Provide guidance to managers and associates in conflict and/or performance management situations and ensure appropriate communication and documentation is maintained. Coach and advise to successful resolution.
  • Assist in administering and supporting the annual performance evaluation process for the business including the development of talent within the business and supporting planning on succession and talent needs
  • Communicate frequently with field and operations management to provide support for different initiatives across the business
  • Job duties are subject to change as directed based on business need


Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Bilingualism is a requirement (English & working French language capability)
  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive senior HR experience (generalist experience preferred; preferably across multiple provinces) with knowledge in the employee relations field
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant discipline
  • CHRP Designation or significant progress towards completion

  • Strong business acumen, having a comprehensive understanding of the link between HR initiatives and business strategy and success
  • Effective consulting, coaching, negotiation, and mediation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the organization
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to influence all layers of management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as proven problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Prioritization and organizational skills with the ability to work self-directed in a remote setting from manager
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative manner with multiple stakeholders – managers, employees, leadership, etc.
  • Must be able to appropriately, discretely and effectively handle and communicate sensitive information and have a strong understanding of confidentiality
  • Working experience of Success Factors (SAP) for HRIS (or equivalent system) is an asset

Working Conditions:

  • Position has opportunity to be based in an AIT Canada location (above) or work fully remotely or in a hybrid structure. Physical location must be in one of the following major geographical areas (Greater Toronto or Greater Montreal area)
  • Travel expected approximately 25%, generally scheduled at the HRBPs discretion
