Role Description

The ideal candidate will assist in the smooth operation of our medical office by providing excellent administrative support and patient care.

Greeting patients in a positive and courteous manner

Updating and maintaining patients' electronic medical records (EMR) with all test results, clinical notes, and demographics including validating health cards, insurance details etc;

Scheduling, coordinating and confirming all patient appointments, tests, referrals and procedures

Sorting and filing correspondence accordingly and performing miscellaneous clerical duties such as responding, answering, redirecting and relaying all inquiries via phone calls, emails, letters, etc.

Process billings for exams, procedures, and forms not covered by Manitoba Health

Ensuring all exam rooms are well cleaned before and after each patient.

Regularly stock the clinical rooms.

Serve as chaperone to clinicians as needed.

Maintaining strict confidentiality according to the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA)

Clinical duties such as taking patients' heights and weights, preparing patients for examinations, and assisting physicians during examinations as needed.


Qualifications

Experience in medical office administration for at least 2 years

Minimum educational qualification of High School.

A certificate in health care clerk or medical office assistant is desirable.

Strong organizational and time-management skills. Great time management and ability to multi-task

Able to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions

Personable with excellent verbal and written communication skills

Have a positive work ethic, superior efficiency and professionalism, and the ability to maintain confidentiality with a high attention to detail and accuracy

Be willing to work with diverse individuals

Proficiency in Experience with computer and computer applications including Windows OS and Microsoft Office.

Experience in using EMRs such as Accuro, LibreMD.
