People Operations Specialist

Kitchener Ontario MA, Waterloo region, Canada Bridgit Full time

Bridgit is a community of hard-working people who want to make a difference in the construction industry. Some of us have been here since the early days, while some joined more recently. Our average tenure is 3+ years and every employee survey tells us that our team loves the people they work with at Bridgit. We are proud of our average tenure but we also know that there is no such thing as ‘one size fits all’ and sometimes individual and organizational goals simply don’t align.

We can talk about the perks and benefits that our team members are entitled to but those are icing on the cake. What you really get out of our environment is OPPORTUNITY – to build your career portfolio, to affect change (in your own team and in an industry as big as construction), to touch and solve problems you otherwise wouldn’t have known, to grow in ways you probably haven’t thought of. Here’s the fine print though – opportunities are only as big as the heart you put into it. That’s why we’re not for everyone.

In the last 3 years, our team members have been part of reaching the following milestones:

  • A successful product pivot and building a market-winning position
  • Top tier performance across all SaaS Metrics
  • Paving the path to profitability
  • The transition to remote-first working environment

Bridgit is like a big personality that walks into a room – you either love it or you hate it, but there’s no way you’ll ignore it. When loved, we’re loved fiercely. The ones who succeed here know how that feels.

What you will do

The People Operations Specialist is a 14-month contract where you’ll provide HR/People Operations support and guidance to Bridgit employees. You will play an integral role in the execution of Bridgit’s People Operations policies, programs and strategies. This role is a direct contributor to the People Operations team’s overall objective of building and scaling an elite team here at Bridgit.

You can expect to:
  • Be the designated point of contact for employee inquiries
  • Support our Fractional People Leader in providing front line support to our leaders
  • Administer the People Operations tech stack (ex. Lattice, Jira, ADP, Canada Life, Lifeworks, MyHSA)
  • Assist in the onboarding process with support from other internal Bridgit team members
    • Assist with swag shipments, equipment shipment and returns
  • Contribute to the Talent Acquisition function:
    • Support hiring managers in job description creation, posting, and resume screening
    • Schedule candidate interviews and lead candidate communications
    • Ensure optimal candidate experience throughout the recruitment process
  • Support and administer the POps cycles – Performance Reviews, Talent Pulse, Bridgit Engagement survey
  • Champion Bridgit’s best-in-class remote work experience by working closely with Bridgit’s senior leadership team to help plan and execute highly impactful virtual and in-person events
What you will bring

Current and future Bridgitrons embody these core values:

  • Deliver results, fast. We are resourceful, adaptable and resilient. We hold ourselves accountable.
  • Fixate on the customer. We obsess over our customers, seeking to better understand them, their world, their needs and their behaviours.
  • Be open, be honest. We keep our minds open as we actively exchange feedback, drawing on our diverse perspectives.
  • Win or lose together. We don’t point fingers when we lose, and we celebrate together when we win.
  • Never stop learning. We continually set the bar higher.

Does that sound like you? Great Here’s what else you’ll need:

  • You are a high performing professional with 1-2+ years of People Operations experience in a high growth start-up environment
  • You have 1-2+ years recruiting experience, meaning you’ve had time to get good at sourcing, attracting and closing high value candidates
  • You are a strong communicator and communicate effectively in a clear, concise, professional manner
  • You are driven and action oriented. You can readily manage volume and quickly changing priorities. You are able to juggle with the best of them
  • You are obsessed with your craft, you truly love what you do and every part of the employee lifecycle. You love to learn and grow and you take each experience and build those learnings into your work
  • You are resourceful and are comfortable gathering requirements and feedback from cross-functional teams for various initiatives

We believe that creativity, enthusiasm, and drive are the keys to success. We recognize that many of the skills we’ve developed over our careers are often transferable. If you’re not sure you meet every qualification but feel you have other experience relevant to the role, we encourage you to apply.

What you will enjoy
  • A collaborative, autonomous environment where you can make an impact quickly
  • A culture that encourages innovation and professional growth
  • Competitive salary and equity options
  • Perks and benefits including unlimited vacation, 4-hour Fridays and extended long weekends

Bridgit values diversity and believes that our strength comes from including the perspectives of all kinds of contributors. We encourage people from underrepresented communities to apply, including racial minorities, 2SLGBTQIA+, and those with disabilities. Accommodations are available during all stages of the recruitment process, please advise us of any needs as required.
