Located just minutes from downtown Montreal, LUX FBO is a fast-growing company operating a FBO/Fixed-Base Operation service at St-Hubert Airport (CYHU). LUX also operates a terminal at Quebec City's Jean Lesage International Airport (CYQB).

Role and context

The Air Freight Supervisor is responsible for the coordination and supervision of air freight operations, ensuring efficiency, safety and regulatory compliance. This role involves managing a team responsible for the handling, loading and unloading of air cargo, as well as liaising with various departments to ensure that cargo operations run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Supervising and coordinating the loading, unloading and handling of air freight.
  2. Ensuring compliance with national and international regulations on the transport of goods.
  3. Managing freight inventory and documentation.
  4. Coordinating the team's work schedules to optimise operational efficiency.
  5. Training and coaching employees on safety procedures and good practice.
  6. Working with customs and airport authorities to ensure compliance and efficient operations.
  7. Monitoring handling equipment to ensure it is in good working order and coordinating any necessary repairs.
  8. Developing and implementing strategies to improve freight management processes.
  9. Maintaining regular reports on operational performance and key indicators.
  10. Resolving operational and logistical problems proactively.

Specific Job Requirements
  1. Secondary school diploma or equivalent; a degree in logistics, transport or management would be an asset.
  2. Previous experience in air freight management or a similar role.
  3. In-depth knowledge of freight transport regulations, including IATA and aviation safety regulations.
  4. Team management and supervision skills.
  5. Ability to use freight management software and standard IT tools.
  6. Knowledge of customs procedures and administrative formalities relating to freight.
  7. Experience of solving logistics problems in a dynamic environment.
  8. Fluency in French is required for this position. A thorough knowledge of English is also required in order to interact with English-speaking customers in Canada and elsewhere in the world.
