Position Summary

You will be an integral part of our journeys, ensuring that we can continue to provide reliable, accurate and compassionate services to our patients, referring physicians and our employees.

You will be working as part of a team that prides itself on providing precise high-quality examinations. You will be expected to work with minimal supervision and direction, which means you will need to be a self starter and confident in your imaging. We expect you to deliver safe and efficient sonography services while minimizing patient discomfort to the best of your ability.

** As this position is based out of our Fort McMurray clinic, the successful applicant will receive a Northern Living Allowance, $25,000 Annual Retention Bonus, and Relocation Allowance (if applicable).

Major Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Prepares and performs a variety of standardized and/or complex procedures as set forth by the Radiologists
  • Responsible for the operation and basic maintenance of all automated and non-automated machinery and equipment.
  • Must have working knowledge of all US equipment and ensure all units are functioning correctly
  • Responsible for maintaining safety and the general care and cleanliness of the Ultrasound area, with particular attention to infection control
  • Instructs patients on examination requested.
  • Assist in the instruction of new staff as requested by Ultrasound Manager/ Ultrasound Coordinator.
  • Maintains quality control in performance of all procedures.
  • Assist Radiologist or fellow staff members.
  • Replenish inventory supplies in rooms
  • Responsible for general patient care and safety
  • Notify Ultrasound Coordinator/ Site Lead of inadequate inventory, equipment problems or any problems encountered during your shift
  • Must maintain the utmost in professional confidence of patient information and/or results.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Current registration with Sonography Canada
  • Maintenance of continuing education credits as per Sonography Canada.
  • CPR Standard First aid certificate is an asset.
  • Credentialed in Echocardiography is considered an asset
  • Proficient or willing to learn Nuchal Translucency exams is an asset
