The Diagnostic Imaging Assistant will support the overall mission, vision, and values of Mayfair. Our mission is to improve people’s lives, one image at a time. In addition to the Diagnostic Imaging Assistant, the successful candidate will also work in the Pain Therapy Department as a Technologist Assistant. The primary functions of the Technologist Assistant, Pain Therapy will include patient care, involving escorting the patient from the reception area to the change room; ensuring all patient information is current and accurate; informing the nurse of the patient's arrival; providing technical and nursing assistance when needed. These positions provide a supportive role to technologists, radiologists, and patients alike, ensuring exemplary customer service to the patient throughout their experience with Mayfair.

What you will achieve in this role:

Diagnostic Imaging Assistant:

  • Greets patients in reception area in a warm, respectful manner and attends to every detail of patient comfort.
  • Ensures incoming patients are admitted for examinations in a timely fashion.
  • Confirms all patient information is correct and accurate.
  • Receives all requisitions and ensures that the information provided is complete and correct.
  • Advises technologist in appropriate area of any patient concerns upon check in.
  • Receives monies from patients paying for exams.
  • Answers all telephone calls promptly, screens calls, answers inquiries, relays messages, and refers callers to appropriate person or area.
  • Books patients for examinations requested either by phone or in person.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality in regards to their illnesses, treatment, and diagnosis.
  • Chaperones exams for male technologists during Endo-Vaginal and Breast examinations.
  • Escorts and changes patients to their appointment(s) within the clinic.
  • Navigates patients between clinic modalities for examinations.
  • Prints day schedule at the end of each day for the next day’s appointments per modality and distributes to the appropriate areas.
  • Performs trial banking and prepares deposit of monies received in the clinic.
  • Conducts patient appointment confirmation calls for respective clinic.
  • Conducts Visage checks throughout the day:
  • Critical results list,
  • Billing list,
  • Delivery record.
  • Burns examination images on CD for send out requests.
  • Picks up, sorts, and distributes incoming mail/fax messages/in-house delivery or courier pickups.
  • Sorts and distributes imaging reports for mail in-house delivery or courier pick up.
  • Retrieves reports and faxes to physicians as required.
  • Mails out reports requiring attachments.
  • Assists in orientating and/or training new employees.
  • Cleans ultrasound exam rooms between patients.
  • Sanitizes and dusts ultrasound exam rooms weekly.
  • Vacuums ultrasound machine filters monthly.
  • Cleans and fills ultrasound gel bottles.
  • Cleans EV probes, Trophon units, and keeps Trophon room tidy.
  • Cleans ABUS machine between patients.
  • Retrieves previous mammogram images.
  • Collects all Call Back slips from the radiologist office throughout the day.
  • Empties the radiologist’s office recycling bin.
  • Maintains clinic supply stock, accepts/notifies modalities of deliveries, and unloads supplies.
  • Orders supplies from Stat Health Care and Grand and Toy.
  • Keeps all rooms stocked with necessary supplies and gowns.
  • Puts clean laundry away, checks laundry baskets for dirty laundry and empties as needed.

Pain Therapy - Technologist Assistant:

  • Prepare pain therapy sterile trays in the morning.
  • Advises technologist in pain therapy of patient’s arrival.
  • Answers all telephone and intercom calls promptly.
  • Maintains liaison between technologists, receptionists and other staff.
  • Prints day schedule at the end of each day for the next day’s pain therapy appointments and distributes.
  • Keeps work area neat and tidy and in a hazard free condition.
  • Receives all requisitions and ensures that the information provided is complete and correct.
  • Some janitorial duties required (e.g. clean pain therapy room, restock washrooms and supplies).
  • Puts away fresh linen and gets linens ready for pick-up.
  • Provides technologists, receptionists, nurse and radiologists with help whenever needed.

What you will bring to this role:

  • Successful completion of Receptionist, Clinic Assistant and/or DI Assistant training program required.
  • Experience delivering exceptional customer service in a face-to-face environment.
  • Experience in a Pain Therapy or related department is required.
  • Certification as a Health Information Office Assistant, Unit Clerk, or Medical Office Assistant required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy required.
  • Strong ability to multi-task with a knack for self-managing and prioritizing based on clinic needs.
  • Computer/keyboarding skills required, typing skills 45 wpm or better required.
  • Good interpersonal and effective communication skills (verbal, written, and oral).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service to all patients.
  • Focuses towards working in a team environment with an upbeat attitude, with the willingness to learn and work professionally to support both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Requires use of the phone, computer, and sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Normal movements of twisting, bending, reaching, and using hands and arms in completing paperwork and administrative tasks.
  • May be required to lift items up to 3 kilograms.
  • Must be prepared to work flexible hours as required to complete duties during non-business hours.
  • Travel to other clinics will be required.
