Job Profile:
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Coordinator is responsible for ensuring maximum efficiency of Prairie Machine’s production and manufacturing processes and procedures. The position aims to increase productivity without sacrificing quality while maintaining safety and CI directives.


Primary Responsibilities
  1. Work with the Quality and Production departments to determine required projects.
  2. Work with Management to maintain a list of projects and priorities.
  3. Collect data and perform risk evaluations as an input into priorities and projects.
  4. Work with departments and functions to develop KPIs and Projects in line with strategic objectives.
  5. Champion CI projects using A3s and Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA).
  6. Track and report on the progress of CI projects.
  7. Manage change to ensure projects are fully rolled out, understood and implemented.
  8. Conduct internal process audits and gather data to ensure implemented projects are effective.
  9. Implement corrective actions, as necessary, to ensure implemented projects are effective and meet desired outcomes.
  10. Monitor for and address unintended and/or undesirable consequences of implemented projects.
  11. Develop procedures and processes, and provide coaching as required by the projects.
  12. Motivate and empower employees to participate by getting involved and bringing forward their ideas for improvement.
  13. Bring forward innovative ideas and possible solutions to Management to meet performance expectations and responsibilities.
  14. Create innovative solutions to a variety of problems that may arise.
  15. Host high-level meetings with management team.
  16. Expedite tasks according to Prairie Machine requirements.
  17. Other duties as assigned.

Department Specific Expectations
  1. Understand Prairie Machine’s Scheduling needs and adherence.
  2. Work closely with all departments regarding customer and production needs.
  3. Understand the material handling process.
  4. Understand the procurement process.
  5. Understand Prairie Machine’s Engineering process and the tools used.
  6. Understand and participate in Prairie Machine’s Quality System - Identify and record non-conformities and participate in their resolution.
  7. Recommend improvements and develop improvement plans in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.
  8. Ability to learn new systems and tools quickly.
  9. Work closely with suppliers and vendors.

General Expectations
  1. Follow prescribed safety standards, rules and regulations, ensuring all workers comply.
  2. Understand and participate in Prairie Machine’s Health and Safety program by instilling a safety culture and leading by example.
  3. Maintain a well-organized and clean facility as per Prairie Machine vision.
  4. Maintain all equipment and tools per recommended procedures.
  5. Ability to work as a respectable, professional and efficient team member.
  6. Maintain a healthy work environment and develop employees on a professional level.
  7. Understand and help Supervisor convey Prairie Machine's strategic plan on annual basis.
  8. Participate and attend meetings when required.

Qualifications
  1. BSc. in Industrial or Process Engineering, other fields within the mining/manufacturing industry or related field and/or equivalent experience may be considered.
  2. 5+ years of working knowledge of manufacturing/mechanical processes and equipment.
  3. Background in safety and internal auditing is an asset; 2+ years is preferable.
  4. Certificates and experience in executing Lean, CI, and Six Sigma projects considered an asset.
  5. Experience in developing and executing Quality Management Systems considered an asset.
  6. Experience in Project Management considered an asset.
  7. Excellent command of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint) and ERP software.
  8. Exceptional command of the English language is required – written and verbal.
  9. Experience in technical writing, specifically procedure and process documentation.
  10. Experience with Training and Coaching is an asset.
  11. Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  12. Possess excellent leadership & teamwork abilities, and organizational skills.
