About the role

As a Director, Business Development, you will develop a deep understanding of Avalere Health's Medical Communications proposition to effectively generate and qualify new business leads in alignment with our strategic growth plans. You will manage the entire sales process for new prospects, from lead generation to capabilities presentations, and coordinate subsequent steps. Your role will involve leading and facilitating engaging capability meetings with tailored client content, collaborating closely with key team members (including across other global capabilities within Avalere Health to drive cross-functional collaboration) to ensure successful client engagements, and delivering timely reports/analytics on progress and achievements toward executing our growth strategy. This is a new position, and the ideal candidate will have proven expertise in a similar role, including within a Medical/Healthcare Communications agency environment.

What you'll do

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding and fluency in our Medical Communications capability, alongside the broader expertise of Avalere Health (e.g., Marketing, Consulting, Market Access).
  • Generate and qualify appropriate new business leads (new clients) in accordance with the Medical strategic growth plan.
  • Manage the sales process for new prospects, from lead generation to capabilities/pitch presentation and mapping of next steps with VP, Global Growth.
  • Lead, participate and facilitate capabilities meetings and preparation with customized content to build compelling engagements.
  • Collaborate with key team members to prepare for new client engagement.
  • Timely reporting to discuss progress and accomplishments towards plan execution.

About you

  • Medical/Healthcare Communications agency experience within a growth, business development, sales or marketing function is essential.
  • Fluency in agency services and capabilities across medical affairs including Medical Communications, publication planning, congress planning, strategic planning, meetings support, digital/creative and more.
  • Experience in cross-collaborating with other capabilities within the same organization to develop cross-selling or combined selling strategies.
  • Applies advanced sales skills and experience with effective lead generation.
  • Strong understanding of the industry, company services and client needs.
  • Skilled in developing and managing sales plans, budgets and work plans.
  • Methodical approach to work whilst being outcome focused.
  • Excel in developing and delivering presentations and written communication.
  • Demonstrable experience building strong business relationships.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced collaborative environment; prioritizes and successfully manages multiple projects/deadlines simultaneously.
