Primary Purpose of the Role
The Director, Credit Planning will manage the Credit Planning Team to achieve its goals and objectives in improving asset quality and reducing financial risks in the Bank. Reporting to the VP, Credit Planning, the position will primarily assist in the development, maintenance, approval coordination, reporting and communication of credit related policies and procedures in the Bank. As people manager, this individual will also provide coaching and guidance to team members.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Update and distribute Loan Policies & Guidelines and process manuals to apply regulations, industry practices and/or any internal changes
- Draft new lending products and procedure developments, coordinate compliance and risk review where appropriate, and communicate with and train branch network
- Respond to regulators (OSFI, FCAC, etc.) and the parent bank and implement recommended changes and external/internal auditors’ requests
- Prepare performance and risk management reports in Bank’s credit operations for senior management, BOD, parent Bank and regulators
- Reviewing and prepare action plans for various internal and external reviews and audits
- Maintain and develop system by promptly requesting system improvements and reporting system errors
- Compile and/or review various reports compiled by the members of the Credit Planning Team
- Manage Credit Planning’s projects by coordinating with relevant departments and external consultants where appropriate
- Actively participate in team meetings and coaching process
- Other duties as assigned
Education Requirements : Bachelor's degree in related fields
Work Experience Requirements
- 7-10 years in lending industry
- 5+ years of industry experience in Canadian Banking System
- Experience in Commercial or Retail lending
- Extensive knowledge and understanding on various credit products and pricing matrix
- Familiar with Bank Act, regulations and guidelines from regulators
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications – i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Demonstrate time management and multi-tasking skills to meet deadlines
- Ability to analyze, evaluate and provide meaningful insights
- Proven ability to work well with others and experience in managing small to medium-sized teams
People Management Experience Requirements:
3-5 years of related experience
Language Requirements :
Required: English
Preferred: Korean
