Position Overview:

Responsibilities:

The Waste Auditor will primarily be responsible for scheduling and audit set up, conducting thorough audits, analyzing the data and preparing reports

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling audits and managing the calendar, which includes adjusting services with our dispatch, the client and our team.
  • Planning audit methodology and procedures per clients' needs and requirements.
  • Physical sorting and quantification of waste and recycling materials, recording data and taking photos.
  • Assessing sites and making observations that can contribute to findings.
  • Analyzing data and preparing reports of findings.
  • Providing recommendations to improve environmental performance based on findings.
  • Reviewing and editing reports for accuracy.
  • Participating in Earth Month, Waste Reduction Week and other special events designed to communicate and educate sustainable waste management practices with clients.
  • Administrative tasks such as data entry, printing, filing, etc.
  • Additional projects as requested.

Qualifications

  • Recent graduate of an accredited University or College Degree in a related field (preferably environmental management, environmental sciences or environmental technician with a focus or interest in waste management).
  • An understanding of, and interest in current environmental and waste management issues, relevant environmental legislation, and familiarity with BOMA, LEED and/or 3R Certification requirements for waste management.
  • Highly developed computer skills and an ability to learn new programs quickly. Competency in MS Office (word, excel, outlook) is mandatory.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, with mínimal supervision.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team player with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • LEED Green Associate, Standard Waste Audit Method training an asset.
  • First Aid certification an asset.
  • Valid driver's license with clean abstract required; full time access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds.

Work Environment

  • This position takes place in both the office and on the road at customer sites.
  • This position is a minimum of 40 hours a week.
  • Occasional travel outside the GTA may be required.
