Environmental Remediation Specialist

As an Environmental Remediation Specialist, you will play a crucial role in developing our entry-level technical staff and contributing to the development of our global network of skilled engineers, scientists, auditors, planners, and environmental specialists.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare project-related technical documents, including environmental reports, technical specifications, work plans, and cost estimates, for review.
- Conduct field work and oversight associated with environmental investigations and remediation activities, including site investigations, contractor management, drilling, soil sampling, well installation, groundwater sampling, excavation, contract administration, and vapour sampling.
- Support contract administration, construction oversight, site inspection/monitoring, and operations support, including full-time site work for projects.
- Coordinate and schedule project-related work, including working with other GHD staff, external contractors, and public entities to obtain permits.
- Contribute to waste projects, including landfills, transfer stations, recycling facilities, anaerobic digestion facilities, composting facilities, and/or waste-to-energy facilities.
- Contribute to the development and coordination of construction contract documents, field notes, mark-up drawings, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, payment certification, and reporting.
- Support the preparation of proposals and strategic business development activities with other team members.
Requirements:
- Relevant Bachelor of Civil, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent degree.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario is an asset.
- 0-2 years of experience in the environmental engineering field, with experience working in a construction setting an asset.
- Willingness to travel for field work, including working long hours, in inclement weather conditions, and in remote locations.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail.
- Flexibility with project types and responsibilities.
- Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills to effectively express technical information to multiple audiences.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with team members, clients, regulatory authorities, and the general public.
- Eager to work with multi-discipline engineering teams.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and be highly communicative.
- Valid driver's license and proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
