THE ORGANIZATION


With a lean, loyal, and productive team of 24 employees, this organization supports the Local Distribution Company (LDC), or 'the Utility' distributes power and related services inside the Town of Wasaga Beach, a vibrant community, with an ever-growing population.

The present population is more than 25,000 and comprises a total service area of 61 square kilometers. The Utility serves approximately 15,500 residential and commercial customers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify potential growth opportunities and market trends
  • Conduct thorough assessments of existing business processes, and strategies
  • Develop and execute acquisition strategies
  • Build a client base and generate revenue
  • Establish and strengthen partnerships that contribute to business growth
  • Strengthen the company's brand presence through networking and marketing activities

CANDIDATE PROFILE


The Business Development Officer will play a crucial role in identifying, analyzing, and pursuing business opportunities to drive the company's unregulated growth.

This position involves strategizing, networking, and fostering relationships to expand the company and achieve revenue and growth targets.

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS, AND PERSONAL TRAITS:

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or related roles
  • Proven experience in working in highly regulated and nonregulated industry sectors; knowledge of the electricity/power sector would also be an asset
  • Experience working with executive teams and Board of Directors
  • Demonstrated operational understanding of the work of an organization that serves multiple stakeholders; often with differing priorities and needs
  • An ability to operate effectively at both a strategic and tactical level; can roll up their sleeves and, participate in execution when necessary; and can effectively balance delegation with participation
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a keen interest in being part of a growing business striving to be the best in its industry

EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants should hold a post-secondary education or possess equivalent educational or experiential qualifications. an MBA is a recognized asset.
