Recreation Program Coordinator

(Temporary Full-time - Contract until December 31, 2027)

The Town of Wasaga Beach is looking for a dynamic and self-driven individual to become part of the Recreation team in the role of Recreation Program Coordinator .

The selected candidate will take charge of the design, organization, oversight, and promotion of recreational programs, summer camps, events, and activities within the Town of Wasaga Beach. This position involves researching, proposing, and justifying the introduction of innovative recreation programs and tournaments, as well as sustaining and enhancing existing community offerings. Responsibilities include guiding recreation program instructors, coaches, and volunteers, creating schedules, providing training, and monitoring performance. The Coordinator will also assist the Supervisor of Recreation Services with special initiatives, gather statistics, contribute to program development and reporting, and handle on-call duties when staff are unavailable at various Town facilities. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is essential to meet the community's recreational needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Diploma or Degree in Recreation and Leisure Services, Recreation and Business, Sport Administration, or a combination of relevant experience and education;
  • High Five accreditation is an asset;
  • Proficient computer skills in database management and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook);
  • Bookkeeping or database management certification is advantageous;
  • Prior experience in recreation and direct programming is beneficial;
  • Excellent interpersonal and strong written and verbal communication skills are essential;
  • Effective time management and organizational abilities with the capacity to multitask efficiently;
  • Standard First Aid and CPR/AED certification are required;
  • A current and suitable Criminal Records Check – Vulnerable Persons Screening is necessary upon hiring;
  • A valid Ontario driver's license in good standing and the ability to provide a driver's abstract upon request;
  • Non-violent crisis prevention training is considered an asset;
  • General understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
  • Availability to work various shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Hourly Rate: $33.36 to $ hours per week)
