About the Faculty of Social Sciences


The FSS comprises nine departments, schools and institutes, which offer undergraduate, masters and doctoral programs in both English and French.

With its 10,000 students, 260 full-time professors, and wide array of programs and research centres, the Faculty of Social Sciences plays a key role at the heart of the University of Ottawa.

Its graduate students are supervised by excellent researchers and undertake cutting-edge research in the Faculty's masters and Ph.
D. programs.

Position purpose:


Under the supervision of the Director of Open Collaborative for Cognitive Accessibility, ensures the coordination of the day-to-day activities of the assigned research chairs, including event coordination, communication, and operations administration.

Plans and implements key support activities in support of research, outreach, training and development programs.

Establishes a strong ressource-person management system and engages target audience through a variety of communication tools to implement the activities of the Research Chairs, aiming to project a positive image, promote the Research Chairs and increase their visibility within the Faculty of Social Sciences, the University of Ottawa and outside the University.

  • A world-class research program that supports the co-creation of evidence to build communities that are accessible to all. Evidence to inform cognitive accessibility standards is scarce, but precious to the industry, the public sector and workplaces that want to better respond to 10% to 40% of their target market, beneficiaries, or employees. Our established partnerships with the private and public sectors support the rapid uptake of research.
  • A unique inclusive research infrastructure that can transform research practices to become inclusive of persons with cognitive disabilities. Professor Cobigo contributes to making research processes, material, and outputs accessible. 30+ persons with a range of cognitive abilities contribute to research and development projects, under the direction of professor Cobigo.
  • A hub where people with cognitive disabilities, their caregivers, and allies can share and learn about solutions to increase the cognitive accessibility of their environment. We offer webinars, workshops and training in partnership with other organizations to build a campus that nurtures neurodiversity. There is also a great need for professional training on accessibility, as many companies are developing their internal capacity for accessibility and diversity.

What you will bring:


Knowledge of communication and administrative principles, normally acquired through a post-secondary degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

At least two years demonstrated experience in a similar role.

Experience in event planning and organization.

Experience in budget administration.

Experience in supervision would be an asset

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Strong organizational skills.

Ability and availability to work outside of regular business hours on occasion

Bilingual - English and French (oral and written)
