Research Coordinator

Division of Respirology

TERM:0.8 or 0.9 FTE; 5 year term with possibility of extension

SALARY:
$34-$40 per hour (commensurate with skills and experience) with benefits

REPORTS TO:
Dr. Sherri Katz, Chief of Respirology

CHEO RI has an immediate requirement for a Research Coordinator.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general supervision of Dr.

Sherri Katz, Division of Respirology, the Research Coordinator will:

  • Be responsible for the overall administration of the clinical study
  • Act as a key communicator between research team personnel, sites, CHEO REB, and investigators
  • Coordinate, organize and chair relevant research meetings
  • Prepare submissions to the REB including consent/assent form, research protocol development, data collection forms, and contracts
  • Develop, manage and maintain multiple databases (REDCap, Excel)
  • Be responsible for patient recruitment, including screening and obtaining informed consent/assent
  • Be responsible for administering study procedures according to the study protocol
  • Track patient progress and coordinate followups
  • Be responsible for the supervision, collection and scoring of research information in REDCap
  • Ensure data collection, data entry, review, and analysis are done in an accurate and timely manner
  • Produce summary and progress reports for funding agencies and ethics boards
  • Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts, abstracts, presentations, and grants
  • Monitor budget and invoice for studyrelated expenses
  • Training and supervision of study personnel
  • Provide overall administrative assistance to the research team
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILL AND ABILITIES

  • University Master's level degree in a health researchrelated field or a Bachelor's level degree with equivalent experience (Essential)
  • Minimum 5 years research experience as a project manager for a multicenter clinical research study

  • GCP, ICH, Health Canada Division 5 certifications
(Essential)

  • Understanding of research design, guidelines and standards governing clinical research, including the
Personal Health Information Protection Act (Essential)

  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, REDCap, reference management software) (Essential)
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills (Essential)
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision, think critically and problem solve (Essential)
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment (Essential)
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills (Essential)
  • Ability to perform basic statistics and prepare summary data results (REDCap, Excel) (preferred)
  • Experience in grant writing and scientific publications (preferred)
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is preferred (preferred)

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Clinic setting work within hospital; exposure to children and parents and/or caregivers.
  • Flexibility to work remotely in a hybrid work model that would include both remote work and on
- site work.

  • Able to be flexible with working hours in order to meet deadlines
  • Able to work in a dynamic, often hectic, environment and be able to multitask
  • Able to work under tight deadlines
  • Able to share information in an effective and collaborative manner

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Eligible to work in Canada;
  • Compliance with CHEO RI's Universal COVID19 Vaccination Policy; and
  • Police Record Check.
