JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Mental Health Clinician (MHC) employs a strengths-based approach to supporting individuals with mental health issues. This role is an important part of our Agency's internal continuum of crisis services.

After initial and brief crisis stabilization by our mobile outreach team, clients are connected to the MHC for short term mental health counselling to enhance their well-being and ability to cope with life stressors and mental health symptoms.

Your role includes assessment, support and transition planning, counselling, and referrals. You make a difference

As a Mental Health Clinician, you will:

  • Use standardized assessment tools to identify needs
  • Develop and implement strengthsbased support plans
  • Engage in individual and/or group counselling using cognitive behavioural, motivational interviewing, solutionfocused, and other evidenceinformed modalities
  • Teach skills such as problemsolving, anger management, selfcontrol, and coping strategies
  • Support access to service by engaging in outreach when required
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure a coordinated approach to meeting client needs
Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday with 1-2 evenings per week.

Contract end date:
May 31, 2025

Training:
Initial comprehensive training related to all aspects of the role, as well as access to ongoing professional development

Starts at $25.55 per hour plus comprehensive benefits.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Have a college diploma in the Human or Social Services field, with a University Degree in a related Social Sciences preferred
  • Have current registration with a professional governing body such as College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) or Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)
  • Have a minimum of 2 years' combined education/experience in mental health or concurrent disorders clinical settings
  • Be proficient in MS Office and be familiar with databases
  • Have access to reliable transportation
  • Be able to manage frequent exposure to vicarious traumatic stress
  • Proof of full vaccination against COVID19
