Position Summary:

  • Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director of the Clinical Research Unit, the Program Administrator will administer all program related activities for the ALS Center of Excellence at the Montreal Neurological Institute & Hospital. The incumbent will perform and/or organize activities to support the daily operations of this program.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform and organize activities to support the daily operations of the unit by ensuring that administrative services are carried out in accordance with established goals and objectives.
  • Implement administrative procedures or systems that are moderately complex in support of the faculty, department or unit's operations and ensure activities meet or exceed established quality requirements.
Monitor and reconcile accounts; assist in the preparation of reports and statements. Approve expenditures within established guidelines.

  • Plan meetings, conferences, luncheons and special events. Record and distribute minutes.
  • Administer computer software licenses and distribution of hardware.
  • Maintain space inventory and interact with facility service units for required services to the building, such as renovations, security, emergency responses, safety, etc.
  • Administer physical resources of the unit or building in compliance with University and government regulations.
  • Compile statistics and data for inclusion in reports. Update documents and reports, either in print or on the website.
  • Provide support for student affairs and academic administrative activities.
  • Establish and foster effective working relationships by identifying needs and providing support in the delivery of services.
  • Assess and resolve administrative problems. When appropriate, inform supervisor and formulate recommendations.
  • Attend meetings.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

  • Undergraduate diploma required, Master's an asset. Experience in accounting is a strong asset. Experience with program development is an asset. Experience interacting directly with patients is required. Work experience in clinical research would be a strong asset; meticulously organized and high level of attention to details. Must be customer focused and service oriented, assisting all clients with tact and diplomacy while maintaining a professional manner and appearance at all times. Ability to maintain composure under pressure and ability to balance multiple competing priorities. Demonstrated ability to provide support for various administrative activities, including producing statistical reports, organizing teleconference, etc. Demonstrated ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment, take initiative, problemsolve, prioritize and organize work. Demonstrated ability to transmit and receive information professionally, concisely and effectively. Ease of use with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint), experience working with database is a strong asset. Fluently bilingual (able to translate documents from English to French and French to English). Testing will be administered.
  • Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an Englishlanguage university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 on a scale of 04.
