Job Summary

The Training Officer will be responsible for designing, maintaining, analyzing, and implementing training programs for staff at the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSSJB). This includes coordinating internship programs and collaborating with the dental assistant training program and the administrative officers program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Training Program Development: Design, maintain, analyze, and implement training programs for staff, including dental assistants and administrative officers.
  • Internship Coordination: Coordinate internship programs at the institution.
  • Collaboration and Consultation: Collaborate with the dental assistant training program and the administrative officers program to ensure alignment and quality of training.
  • Training Delivery and Evaluation: Deliver training sessions and evaluate training outcomes for newly recruited staff.
  • Preceptorship and Onboarding: Accompany newly trained staff into preceptorship and participate in the welcoming and orientation of new staff.
  • Training for Existing Staff: Deliver various trainings to existing staff, including annual trainings and asepsis training.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in the observation and evaluation of staff in place to ensure quality assurance of dental assistant acts and administrative officers acts.
  • Clinical Tools and Quality Measures: Collaborate in the development, review, implementation, and training related to clinical tools and support the development and implementation of quality measures.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate university discipline.
  • Experience: One year of relevant experience as a dental assistance teacher and dental administrative officers, or one year of relevant experience in training or equivalent knowledge.
  • Knowledge and Abilities: Demonstrated experience in planning, adapting, developing, and implementing training programs, and maintaining existing programs; ability to integrate Eenou/Eeyou (Cree) culture, values, traditions, and teachings into programming; knowledge of First Nations health and social service models, trends, and issues, an asset; knowledge of Cree culture, language, and social/health issues in Eeyou Istchee is an asset; ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team; leadership skills to work with individuals and groups; excellent communication skills, both written and oral; excellent critical thinking, synthesis, planning, and decision-making skills; must be autonomous and flexible; knowledge of computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • Language: Fluency in English; fluency in Cree and French is an asset.
