The Event Technology Specialist, Production Services, reporting to the Technology Manager, CPD, supervises a team of audio-visual and technology contractors, in delivering professional live, virtual, and pre-recorded content for Continuing Professional Development (CPD), Law Society (LSO), and stakeholders.

This role extends across various venues on and off-site, ensuring the meticulous management and upkeep of audio-visual equipment, broadcast systems, and technology components.

The role actively engages in broadcast production workflows, event technology management, show calling, and technical directing.

The role performs pre-production tasks and services for around CPD programs and internal events, including equipment and systems testing, media content preparation, and liaising with stakeholders.

Event Technology Specialist, Production Services provides continuous improvement of services to meet program requirements and refine production practices.

A college diploma in audio-visual and live event technology production is the minimum educational requirement to meet the core qualifications for this position.

A minimum of five (5) years of relevant education and experience in using audio-visual and broadcast technologies for live event production, including virtual, in-person, and hybrid events
Proven ability to quickly learn new systems and have fundamental knowledge of audio-visual systems and integration
Experience in post-production tasks like video editing and creating various media content (animation, motion graphics, audio, and video) is also necessary
Proficient at translating technical requirements into easily understandable language for non-technical colleagues
Stays informed on current trends and advancements in audio-visual, broadcast and information systems
Skilled in setting up and managing both live and webcast conferences
Capable of comprehending and reasoning through technical information
Maintains composure and clarity in high-pressure, fast-paced event environments
Manual dexterity for installation and repair of AV equipment; the ability to solve technical and logistical problems
Experience with collaboration tools, presentation technologies, and production workflows
Experience authoring technical support documentation
Post-production applications and tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Cloud)
Knowledge of educational video production techniques
Experience in managing lighting for live events and video production
Industry-standard AV technologies, including audio-visual over internet protocols (AVOIP), webcasting, and video codecs
Windows and Mac operating systems
Network and TCP/IP protocols
Integrated AV control system setup and use
Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) designation is an asset
Client Service Delivery

Collaborates internally and supervises contractors and vendors in the production, planning and execution of events through in-person, remote and hybrid workflows to ensure execution and operation of advanced virtual production workflows, software, hardware, IP protocol integrations and broadcast audio and video equipment for the production of CPD programs, LSO events, Convocation and other organizational needs.

Acts as a director, producer and liaison for all webcast and audio-visual components virtually/remotely, in the Learning Centre and/or at offsite venues.

Handles the day-to-day tasks related to the pre-production, production, and postproduction of these programs.
Provides direction, assignments and tasks related to the events to internal Production Services staff, contractors, and vendors.

Provides and completes assignments and tasks on system maintenance, testing and inventory control as directed by the Technology Manager.

Liaises with CPD stakeholders regarding their events and communicates any technical challenges or special requests to Technology Manager for resolution.

Schedules and conducts pre-program filming of vignettes, post-production services and post webcast archiving, bookmarking and report requirements.

Coordinates technical requirements and support for internal stakeholder users (including CEO, Treasurer, Executive Directors, Benchers) and external bookings of the Learning Centre and other locations/services where required.

Provides clear guidance when first level issues arise (including any technical issues) and consults with Technology Manager to meet stakeholder expectations.

Provides post event analytics and reports on team operations and results to Technology Manager.
Special Projects and Initiatives

Collaborates with the Technology Manager to enhance processes and protocols for event production, planning, and execution across various formats (in-person, remote, and hybrid) at the Learning Centre and other venues.

Offers support in developing multimedia content for online learning and fulfilling organizational requests.
Analyzes post-program data to optimize future executions.

Supports lifecycle planning for audiovisual system enhancements and actively participates in procurement processes like Request for Quotations, Request for Proposals, and Request for Information to audiovisual equipment.

Pivotal in ensuring the smooth execution of events and programs by collaborating closely with the Technology Manager, Department, Senior Management, Treasurer's office, and other stakeholders.

Aids the Technology Manager in adopting new technical equipment and maintenance processes.
Helps coordinate logistics, manage resources, and oversee technical requirements for successful events.

Supports internal stakeholders in executing events across various internal venues and assists in training Production Services staff, contractors, and vendors.

The working arrangement for this position has been classified as hybrid, where the employee will regularly flex their work location between home and office.
