About us:

Seaside Broadcasting Organization operates 105.9 Seaside-FM.

By definition, it is a not-for-profit organization that provides a mechanism for the communities it serves to share their experiences.

Its vision is to act as a vehicle for the population demographic of 55+ citizens, and to work in partnership to further community development.

Seaside beams its signal from Eastern
Passage to the CBC tower in Halifax, with a power output close to 3,000 watts. This allows the radio station to cover the entire HRM, and Maritimes through local internet servicers online.

Dedicated community members staff the organization by volunteering, alongside a limited number of paid staff.

The mission is to enrich the lives of listeners throughout the HRM and beyond with music and information relating to the community, by providing up to date news, playing local artists, and offering programming not found on other radio stations

Primary Function of the Position:
The position would be responsible for building and maintaining a positive image for the company.

You will be in charge of establishing and maintaining relationships with listeners, community, volunteers/staff, and public interest groups by writing press releases, and other media communications, responding to requests for information, and press conferences.

Social media plays a big role here, as well as some on air duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Promote, plan, and coordinate for fundraising, facilitate community events, and press conferences.

Maintain social media sites with timely posts - Facebook, Instagram

Initiate public relations and marketing projects, manage budget and distribution.

Working to maintain and expand the public's image of the station.

Coordinate with an external provider to update and maintain the station website.

Soliciting giveaways on and off air.

Writing press releases and other media communications to promote the station.

Write and record news casts.

Maintain and prepare quarterly reports on promotional item inventory.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

College/University degree, equivalent, or industry experience

Proficient with Microsoft Office software

Ability to utilize graphic design programs (photoshop, illustrator, Canva)

Familiarity with social media platforms

Diver's license

High level communication and interperson skills

Must be adept at time management, public speaking, communication, event planning, and research.

Well versed in current affairs

Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and to participate as a fully cooperative treasm member.

Must be aware and appreciate the culture of Seaside-FM station format and public image

Physically able to perform the duties of the position, Must be able to safely lift 50lbs

$16.75 per hour
