Empire life is looking to hire a Senior Finance Manager to join our Corporate Development Finance team


The Senior Finance Manager is part of the Corporate Development team and will be responsible for supporting Empire's mergers and acquisitions activities.

The incumbent works under the moderate supervision of the Vice-President, Finance - Corporate Development.

What you'll be working on
Participate in Empire and subsidiaries business acquisitions - including due diligence, preparing discounted cash flow valuations, preparing business combination memos, calculating working capital, documenting assumptions and working with other functional units to determine synergies
Liaise with vendor as required
Preparing 1st iteration of the purchase price allocation and work with KPMG to finalize the valuation and become the key contact person in dealing with PWC
Prepare an annual analysis of Goodwill impairment test
Incorporate key metrics for acquisitions ie. IRR, EBITDA multiples as part of the valuation model
Work in collaboration with Corporate Finance in developing business integration processes
Review the Share Purchase Agreement or Asset Purchase Agreement to ensure, from a finance perspective, the document is complete and accurate
Participate in loan underwriting
Documenting our due diligence and integration processes, identifying gaps and preparing action plans

What we're looking for you to have
CPA, and/or CGA/CMA/CA designation
10+ years of experience within accounting/finance, preferably in the insurance/financial services industry
Experience in the financial services/insurance industry
Advanced knowledge of valuation modelling, MS Excel, MS Word
Well-developed analytical, evaluation, decision-making and problem resolution skills
Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks
Ability to negotiate solutions
Well-developed analytical, evaluation, problem resolution, and decision-making skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills; a highly effective communicator/collaborator with the ability to influence others as well as cultivate productive relationships; ability to communicate complex financial concepts and results in a clear, concise, and an easy to understand manner
Strong relationship management and time management skills
