The Role


Sandbox is hiring a full-time
Project Lead, Research and Engagement, to lead and contribute to multi-faceted projects at the intersection of media, technology and learning in collaboration with clients and partners in fields from education, health, human rights, the environment, and more.

The Project Lead will be responsible for conducting research, analysis and writing to identify the needs of stakeholders and end users of media, web and learning products; inform communications and marketing strategies; and report on the impact of products and strategies.

The Project Lead, Research and Engagement reports to the Director of Digital Learning Initiatives and collaborates closely with the whole Sandbox team.


Specifically, the role involves:

Leadership and quality assurance (25%)

  • In collaboration with the Director of Digital Learning Initiatives and the Project Lead of Digital Learning, conceptualize research and engagement outputs and strategies for a portfolio of select projects of different sizes and at different levels of development
  • In collaboration with the Production Manager, prepare project scoping documents and schedules to ensure efficient team work and client relations
  • In collaboration with the Production Manager, identify talent needs, both internal and external
  • Provide direction and constructive feedback to internal and external project team members, through an open communication approach and project management tools and best practices
  • Manage project execution and quality control from development to final delivery

Data-driven research and analysis (30%)

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative research to understand client and end user objectives and needs, including analyzing existing information and data and designing and conducting interviews, focus groups and surveys. This includes conducting such research for Sandbox internal needs.
  • Identify measurable objectives as well as performance measurement and attribution strategies and tools to assess the impact of media, web and learning products and communication and marketing strategies
  • Inform the development and implementation of impact campaigns for media projects, driving key audience members and stakeholders to watch a project and take action, with the goal of changing dynamics (changing minds, changing behaviors, changing structures and building communities).
  • Research and implement performanceenhancing tools and techniques including Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Search Engine Marketing (SEM), media strategy, planning and buying online and offline in particular on social media platforms

Production of written outputs (30%)

  • Produce reports, presentations, articles, brochures, briefs and infographics to summarize and present research results, strategies and recommendations to the Sandbox team, clients, stakeholders and partners
  • As needed, support other Sandbox departments with the production of written outputs, such as video scripts, website copy, social media posts, and learning content
  • Edit written content produced by other team members/external contributors, including substantive or structural editing, stylistic editing, rewriting, copy editing, and proofreading
  • Maintain Sandbox's social media presence, including through website and social media updates and posts, both short
- and long-form

  • Proactively research, test and incorporate the use of artificial intelligence tools into your work to increase the efficiency and quality of your written work
